April, 2012 – Seedleaf and Winging It

Jeremy Porter will be presenting our program this month. He is the representative for the organization called ‘Winging It’, a subsidiary of Seedleaf. He will be speaking a little on Seedleaf and telling us how we can raise backyard chickens. Since the subject is chickens and the wonderful eggs they produce, Julia, Herb Guild President, thought our food theme should be “Breakfast for Dinner” using your favorite herbs.

March, 2012 – What’s Eating Your Garden?

Our first meeting of 2012 is Wednesday, March 14 at 6:30 PM.  Starr Kramer will be our host.

  • Ric Bessin from the University of Kentucky’s Department of Entomology will discuss “What’s Eating Your Garden?” and natural ways to rid our garden of these pesky pests.
  • Please bring a dish using your favorite herb from your garden.  I look forward to a year of interesting programs and delicious meals with my herbal companions!

December, 2011 – Annual Holiday Party

November, 2011 – Marzipan

Our meeting will be held at MaryDiane Hanna’s home starting at 6:30 PM, November 9.  The program will be “Marzipan” presented by Pat Kasper.  Pat will be demonstrating how to make Marzipan fruits and she will bring supplies for each of us to make a sugar mouse.  MaryDiane will be cooking a turkey with dressing and serving ginger tea.  Please bring your favorite Thanksgiving dish.

October, 2011 – A Pasta Primer & Two Simple Herbal Sauces

Kim McBride will be hosting the October meeting, Wednesday, October 12 at 6:30 PM with Marianne Ramsey presenting an overview of all things pasta — dry versus fresh, best brands, and shapes and sauce pairings. Marianne will demonstrate best cooking techniques and prepare two pasta sauces for sampling. Feel free to bring an Italian inspired dish or anything you feel would be a nice accompaniment to pasta.

September, 2011 – Japanese Cooking with Herbs

Our September meeting will feature our very own Yuki presenting on Japanese Cooking with Herbs.  She will be demonstrating her cooking techniques.  Please bring an Asian inspired dish to share with the group.  Kelli DeSimone will be hosting the meeting at 6:30 PM, September 14 at her lovely home.
 

 

August, 2011 – Canning Party & Recipe Swap

Our August Meeting will be a Canning Party & Recipe Swap, Wednesday, August 10th at Louise Hinson’s home. Louise will kindly give us a canning demonstration! Please bring copies of your favorite canning recipe or a recipe you would like to can – samples would be great! Otherwise, please bring your favorite summer dish!
